Founded in 1997,

The Alamo Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Recognizes that wild turkeys in south Texas are a treasure deserving conservation and management using techniques proven everywhere by the N.W.T.F.

With the help of volunteers like you, we plan year-round activities that offer education to the general public, camaraderie with like-minded outdoor enthusiasts, and management help to area landowners. Money raised at N.W.T.F. banquets, and other events, is used for this purpose.

As turkey advocates, teamed with other local conservation groups, we can improve the quality and availability of turkey hunting in south Texas. Then, everyone wins; the hunters, landowners, habitat, and the wild turkeys, too.

Recognizing the future of our conservation efforts begins with the education of our youth, N.W.T.F. has an active JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) program and Extreme JAKES program with combined membership in excess of 45,000 youths. For as little as $10.00 each, you can enroll your children in the JAKES program and begin them on a new adventure that will change their lives for the better.

With the JAKES program, the Alamo Chapter NWTF awards a scholarship(s) to area graduating seniors each year.

The Alamo Chapter NWTF, in partnership with the Texas Youth Hunting Program of Texas Wildlife Association, held it's first spring turkey hunt in 1999 for five youth ages 11 through 17. We've held at least one hunt each year since then.

We in the Alamo Chapter hope to welcome you into the ranks of an organization you can be proud to join. For more information, please call, write, or email us.
